Why we exist
The middle got abandoned
The markets we work in — uptime monitoring, dynamic DNS, status pages, threat intelligence — are mature, commodity-adjacent, and unevenly served. Free tiers have drifted toward punitive (No-IP's 30-day nag, UptimeRobot's non-commercial restriction). Paid tiers anchor at enterprise price points most small teams can't justify.
Between those extremes sits a large group: SMBs, agencies, prosumers, serious homelabbers. They want commercial-quality tools at fair prices. They don't need white-glove onboarding. They don't want to be gatekept.
Opaque Research exists to serve that middle with products that are unified, honest, and built to last.

Founder background
Rigorous analysis, not marketing hand-waving
Opaque Research's founder brings a former intelligence-analyst background from NASIC (National Air and Space Intelligence Center), with working expertise in ICS 206-1 (intelligence collection planning) and ICD 203 (analytic standards). Those methodologies shape how we approach threat intelligence in particular — the rigor is real, not a slide-deck claim.
That combination of full-stack development and professional intelligence analysis is what lets Opaque Research ship IntrusionLabs reports that stand up to scrutiny, alongside infrastructure products that don't cut corners.
